Crazy times! Hey everyone...I have a story to share..
My travels last fall took me once again, to New York City, where I found myself spending a good deal of time down at Zuccatti Park soaking in the energy of the Occupy Wall Street movement which was birthed last September in New York's financial district. My time in the park consisted of allot of reading, volunteering with various working groups, writing, and performing my songs for whoever chose to pass and listen.
It was during one of these impromptu gigs when I encountered a music producer who asked me to submit a song for a compilation cd he was spearheading. The proceeds from the sales would all be donated to occupy wall streets financial committee and various other charities. I submitted a song I wrote called "Somethings got to Give".
A few months pass by and the next thing I know, the compilation cd I am included on ends up also featuring such well known names at Crosby and Nash, Willie Nelson, Joan Baez, Steve Earle, Anti Flag, Yoko Ono, Our Lady peace, Third Eye Blind, and many others...
The cd which is now called "Occupy This Album" will be released world wide in the coming months. Check out the website for the album at this link for other information... http://musicforoccupy.org
My track "Somethings got to Give" is also (thanks to some magic spells and an amazing stroke of luck) the first song on the album...
As if this all isn't crazy enough...a drawing I did was also chosen for the cover art.
I have recently been featured in Forbes magazine, Rolling Stone, Relix magazine, and on Grammy.com because of my presence on this cd, and it has also come to my attention that the Producer of the release was initially inspired to put the album together after he saw me perform in Zuccatti park.
I am very honored and happy to be participating in such a big way to this monumental project, and you will most likely see me pop up in various places in print and on stage very soon.
So sometime in the next few months, stop into your local record store and scoop up a copy of "Occupy this Album". This spring and summer are looking to be very interesting and exciting, watch for fire works when this cd drops! I will be playing many shows in venues I have never had access to before in places I don't usually get to travel..so keep an eye out!. Check the shows section to see what is happening currently...
Thanks for reading, listening, and supporting my music. C you all on the road..
